Hoots in November

During the month of November we talked all about WHOO and what we are thankful for!

One thing we are thankful for is all of the food that we have.  We learned that the first pilgrims had to learn to plant crops on the new land with help from the Native Americans.  We planted our own classroom crop of corn and watched it grow!

As we learned more about the pilgrims we made Mayflower ships with our hand prints when we discussed the Pilgrims journey to America.

We wondered what we would look like as pilgrims and made portraits of ourselves in pilgrim hats and bonnets.

Another thing we are thankful for is all of God's beautiful creations.  We decorated our ceiling with beautiful multicolored shaving cream leaves.

We are especially thankful for the wonderful teachers and staff at HSS and made cards to show everyone just how much we appreciate all they do to help us.  It was so fun to see how much everyone enjoyed our cards!

During November we learned all about the turkey.  One silly craft we completed was "Save a Turkey Eat More..." where each student said what they would eat instead of turkey on Thanksgiving.  This was a great practice in fine motor skills and hand writing practice!

We completed more turkey crafts making turkey portraits and paper plate turkeys.

We also took time to list what we are thankful for on our Thankful Turkey.

This month we learned about the letters H, I, and J.  We celebrated the end of H week with Hat and Headband Day!

This month we celebrated three of our students birthdays.  We are thankful for their friendship and for allowing us to celebrate with them at school!

We ended the month with our Thanksgiving Feast surrounded by those we are most thankful for, our families!
