Happy 100th Day of School!

The Friday before Catholic Schools Week began we celebrated the 100th day of school!

We decorated adorable shirts at home with help from mom and dad,

counted and laced 100 Fruit Loops to make a necklace,

and made 100th day of school crowns.

We even had a special visit from Cliford the Big Red Dog!

We sure do have some WISE hoots in PreK B!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in PreK B!
Take a look at all of the fun crafts we have already made this month as we prepare for Christmas!

Water color and finger painted snowy trees make us dream of a white Christmas at nap time.

Guided drawings of Rudolph the red nose reindeer help us to know that Christmas time is here.

What is Christmas without a few Elves around to help Santa?!

And tissue paper holly wreaths for our windows have lots of friends singing the Fa La Las.

To celebrate the feast day of St. Nicholas we made miter hats with Mrs. Mansfield during our religion lesson.  Mrs. Mansfield told us about all of the wonderful things St. Nicholas did and helped us put our shoes outside to see if St. Nicholas would visit during nap time and bring us a treat.

After nap we were excited to see that St. Nicholas had visited and left us yummy candy!

We also made our own St. Nicks to hang in our room!

Our week's theme of night time inspired us to make star ornaments for our classroom tree.

We have made a wonderful Winter Wonderland in our classroom!
I know the rest of our month will be just as magical!

So Very Thankful!

What a wonderful time we had in November learning all about Thanksgiving history and traditions and discussing the things we are thankful for!

First we learned about the Pilgrims' voyage to America and their first year in Plymouth with the Native Americans. We made Thanksgiving bracelets to help us retell the story, each bead represented a different part of their journey.

We learned about the Native Americans and the Pilgrims and how they lived their lives in Plymouth Town.  We learned about the chores the children helped with, tending crops, collecting fire wood, and watching animals, we also learned about the games they played, stick ball and nine pin.  We enjoyed learning about the written symbols the Native Americans used and had fun decorating our vests and headbands for the Feast!

During our Thanksgiving preparation we took time to think of all we are thankful for, friends, family, teachers, and the workers who help at our school.  We worked with PreK A to make cards for all of the staff and teachers at HSS that help us PreK kids, we are very thankful for them!

You can't have Thanksgiving without talking about Turkey!  After reading the story Turkey Trouble, where the turkey tries on different disguises to avoid being the main meal, we thought of other things we could eat instead of turkey on Thanksgiving Day.  Our turkeys say "Save a turkey, eat more..." corn, alfredo, pizza, and other fun alternatives!

We also made adorable hand print place mats with Turkeys.  I hope they were a fun addition to your Thanksgiving table!

Our last Turkey activity was counting turkey feathers!  We identified the number written on the turkey's belly then colored the correct number of feathers on his body.  Who knew math could be so fun!

We ended our Thanksgiving unit with a Feast!  We sang a cute Thanksgiving song, prayed, and shared a meal together.  It was so fun seeing everyone share time with friends and family!

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving Break with your little ones just as much as I enjoyed my break with my two little Turkeys at home!

Bonus:
Here are a few pictures of us enjoying the SNOW we had in November!  What a fun surprise before Thanksgiving!
