Happy Holidays from the Hoots!

What a wonderful advent season we shared together in December!
All month long we celebrated the upcoming arrival of our Savior with fun lessons and crafts.
Here is a glimpse into all of our fun!

We started off the month by creating a beautiful watercolor nativity scene for our bulletin board.

Mrs.Milton taught us each week about the themes of Advent.  We celebrated 3 weeks of Advent together and learned about Hope, Peace, and Joy.

We heard that a few other classes around school had elves come.  So we decided to write a letter to Santa and ask for our own elf.

And Santa delivered!

We had our own class elf who we named Snowflake.

Snowflake did lots of funny things around our classroom and even decorated our Christmas tree for us when we asked.

All month long we made fun Christmas crafts to decorate our classroom.
We made a Christmas tree garland to hang above our calendar.

We made a Christmas tree with stained glass ornaments and presents for our window.

We turned ourselves into elves to decorate the classroom cabinets.

And we decorated our walls with our drawings of Rudolph, St.Nicholas that we assembled, and Christmas trees that we made after we learned about the concept of size and placing things in small to large order.

In religion we learned about the bright star that the Wise Men followed to find baby Jesus.
We also learned about phases of the moon and constellations during our class lessons.  We even turned our special letter into a constellation and made star ornaments for our Christmas tree!

We enjoyed many fun activities in December including our Gingerbread Hunt that took us all over the school building and ended in a yummy treat!

We enjoyed hearing Mrs. Dobbins read us a Christmas story in the library with PreK A and the three Kindergarten classes.

We enjoyed watching the 1st grade Christmas program.

We even had our own Polar Express day and had a special visit from Santa himself!

Lawson's dad, Mr.Baker, even got to meet Santa!

Our last day before Christmas Break we enjoyed a wonderful party full of fun games, crafts, and yummy food!  Thanks to all of the parents who made our party so fun and for the ones who were able to spend a little bit of time with us!

We also said Goodbye to our Mount St Mary's friend, Susan, who did her junior service semester in our room helping out with projects and having fun with us in the mornings.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with friends and family and we are so happy to be back together again and starting off 2017 with the best Hoots around!
