Howdy, Cowboy!

Last week we loved learning all about the letter C!
There are so many activities, treats, and things in nature that start with the letter C and we loved discussing them for our Alphabet Journals.

In line with our letter C curriculum for the week, we painted Crosses with Cotton q-tips to make Circles.

Our favorite C activity of the week was dressing like Cowboys and Cowgirls!  All day long phrases like "Howdy, partner!" and "Giddy Up!" could be heard around campus.  What fun!

Last week we discussed how we can stay healthy.
One way we can stay healthy is keeping our bodies and our environment clean.

Another way we can stay healthy is through diet and exercise.  We charted fun things we can do to exercise to keep our body's insides healthy and sorted images of foods into healthy and non-healthy choices.

We wrapped up our month of September with our final apple treat, Apple Krispies!
First we had to melt our marshmallows.

Then we mixed in our jello mix to make the marshmallows red like apples.

Finally we mixed in our rice cereal, and boy was it messy!

We rolled our rice krispies into a ball.

 Added a Tootsie Roll stem.

And finished them off with a green icing leaf.

These are definitely not the apples you think of when saying "An apple a day keep the doctor away" but they are extra tasty!

On Friday we got to see our fourth grade reading buddies complete their Egg Drop projects.  Our friends worked really hard on designs to protect their eggs from falling from the sky bridge.  Some made the journey safely, others did not.  Either way, we had so much fun watching and cheering on our buddies!

Our Hoot of the Week was Preston!
Preston shared with us delicious pop corn and pretzels for his Hoot snack.

One fun fact about Preston is that he was the first baby born in 2012 and had his photo and an article about his birth in the paper!  What a neat story and keepsake that he shared with us!
