Lucky Ducks

Last week we learned all about the letter Q!  One of our favorite Q words is quack because it is said by cute little ducks.  After reading lots of silly stories about ducks we made our own funny ducks.  Some are waddling, some are dancing, and some are doing the splits! 

This week we learned all about St. Patrick's day!  We learned about St. Patrick and how he was a missionary and helped convert Ireland to Christianity using the shamrock to teach about the Holy Trinity.  We made our own Leprechaun girls and boys and drew pictures of what we are lucky for after we made a class chart.  

What "lucky ducks" we are to have this sweet crew of 12 Hoots!

Welcome March!

Last week we welcomed a new month, March!  

We redecorated our classroom with bright spring colors and lots of bunnies for Easter!

In religion class we are continuing our Lenten studies and Mrs. Milton taught us that Jesus is the lamb of God.  During mass when the priest is preparing the Eucharist we sing "Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.  Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.  Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace."  We made our own lambs to hang in the classroom to remind us of Jesus' sacrifice.  

Our letter of the week was P so we read lots of stories about Pigs!  Our favorite story was If You Give A Pig A Pancake.  After reading the story we practiced sequencing by retelling the story using the ordinal numbers 1st-10th.

We continued our P studies with a lesson about pets.  We discussed the differences in animals that make good pets and ones who are wild animals.  We sorted pictures of animals in a Smart Board lesson and completed a journal about what pet we would have if we could have any pet in the world!

We ended our week with a Party for Dr. Seuss's birthday!  Quinn's Nana sent our class Cat in the Hat hats to wear while we made yummy truffula tree snacks and watched The Lorax movie.  Everyone thought it was the PERFECT way to end the week!
