Holly Jolly Holidays

We had a very busy December together preparing for Christmas!
Take a look inside all of the fun we had together!

In December we learned about the letter C and celebrated with Cowboy and Cowgirl day!

On Cowboy/Cowgirl Day we also made Christmas Cookies with yummy icing and sprinkles.

Cowboy Isaac was a big helper and delivered cookies all around campus to our friends on staff.

Another C activity we completed was making Christmas trees!  The children painted and cut paper plates and adorned them with paper ornaments to make the fun and whimsical trees to hang from our ceiling.

Another tree craft we completed was watercolor trees.  Not only did the students watercolor the trees green but also the blue backgrounds.  I loved all of the individuality in colors!

What is Christmas without a few Elves around to help Santa?!  We had fun one afternoon turning ourselves into elves and look at how silly and cute they turned out!

Speaking of elves, PreK B had our own elf come visit from the North Pole!  We named him Glitter and he played funny tricks and left surprises for us each day during December.  He delivered our Christmas tree and our cookie supplies, painted his own watercolor trees, brought us "snowballs" for an indoor snowball fight and our Polar Express tickets, and many other fun things!

In December we decorated our windows with beautiful holly wreaths

and we added some silly to our cabinets with reindeer!

To celebrate the feast day of St. Nicholas we made miter hats with Mrs. Milton during religion and had a visit from one class of our fourth grade reading buddies.  Our buddies talked to us about all of the wonderful things St. Nicholas did and helped us put our shoes outside to see if St. Nicholas would visit and bring us a treat.

After nap we were excited to see that St. Nicholas had visited and left us yummy candy!

One week we learned all about the different Gingerbread stories!  We read stories about Gingerbread Men, Women, Boys, Girls, Pirates, Ninjas, Mice, and Bears.  Who knew there were so many mischievous Gingerbread characters out there!  We even had our very own Gingerbread Hunt around school.

We started in our classroom,

then headed to the library,

next we stopped by the office,

then headed to the cafeteria,

then ended back in our classroom!

While we were learning about Gingerbread people we decorated our own Gingerbread person!  Thank you to all parents who helped out on our homework assignment!

On Polar Express Day we got to wear our PJs to school!  We snuggled up to watch the movie and enjoyed hot chocolate and popcorn as a snack.

We even had a visit from Santa himself!

Santa had a magic finger that he touched to each of our noses.  It lit up if we were on the nice list and we all made the cut!

During all of our fun and excitement for Santa's visit we also took time to discuss the most important reason for our celebration, Jesus' birth.

We colored and assembled beautiful nativity scenes,

made angles for our bulletin board,

and had our own Advent wreath in our classroom.  Each week during religion Mrs. Milton taught us about each candle representing the Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace that Jesus brought to the world with his birth.

We ended our month with our class Christmas Party!
We decorated Santa faces, read a Christmas story, opened presents from Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Milton,  enjoyed delicious food, and played outside on the playground.  Thank you to everyone who helped by preparing crafts, sending food, and helping chaperone the party.

Mrs. Milton and I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break and got to spend Christmas and New Year with loved ones and friends.  We are so thankful to share our classroom with your children and look forward to a wonderful 2018 with our 11 little Hoots!
