So Very Thankful

What a wonderful time we had earlier this month learning all about Thanksgiving history and traditions and discussing the things we are thankful for!

First we learned about the Pilgrims voyage to America and their first year in Plymouth with the Native Americans. We made Thanksgiving bracelets to help us retell the story, each bead represented a different part of their journey.

We learned about the Native Americans and the Pilgrims and how they lived their lives in Plymouth Town.  We learned about the chores the children helped with, tending crops, collecting fire wood, and watching animals, we also learned about the games they played, stick ball and nine pin.

We also made adorable hand print place mats with Pilgrims and Native Americans.  I hope they were a fun addition to your Thanksgiving table!

In addition to learning about how the Native Americans and Pilgrims lived we made our own bread and butter just like they did in Plymouth!

For our bread we mixed our ingredients, kneaded the dough, then baked it to a nice and golden brown color!  The only difference is we cooked our bread in the crock pot instead of a stone oven.  :)

For our butter we had 1 cup of heavy whipping cream and 1 counting bear and we shook, and shook, and shook our jar until it finally turned into butter!

What a delicious snack that we made!  Yum!

During our week before break we took time to think of all we are thankful for, friends, family, teachers, and the workers who help at our school.  We made cards for all of the staff and teachers that help us PreK kids, we are very thankful for them!

You can't have Thanksgiving without talking about Turkey!  After reading the story Turkey Trouble, where the turkey tries on different disguises to avoid being the main meal, we thought of other things we could eat instead of turkey on Thanksgiving Day.  Our turkeys say "Save a turkey, eat more..." blueberries, carrots, lettuce, chocolate chip cookies, and other fun alternatives!

We ended our week with a Feast!  We sang a cute Thanksgiving song, prayed, and shared a meal together.  It was such a fun time seeing our little Pilgrims share time with friends and family!

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving Break with your little ones just as much as I enjoyed my break with my two little Turkeys!
