My Family

Last week we learned all about our families!  We learned about the differences in our immediate family and our extended family, discussed fun activities we do with our family, and traditions we have for holidays.

Everyone loved sharing pictures of their family and drawing their family's portrait!

We now have a wonderful "Hoot Families" wall in our classroom!

After sharing our family photos we learned how to graph.  We used our own picture in the class graph to show how many people we have in our immediate family.  Some families are small, some are large, but they are all special!

On Friday we completed another graphing activity with a fun fall treat, candy corn!  We graphed the vanilla candy corn, chocolate candy corn, and candy pumpkins.  We discussed how many of each type of candy we had, which type we had the most of, and which type we had the least of!

We hope you are having a great week, from our Hoot Family to yours!

The Little Red Hen

Last week we read three different versions of The Little Red Hen after discussing ways we could be helpers at home and at school.  As we read the stories we compared the characters, baked goods made, and if the Little Red Hen shared her baked good at the end.

After a week of learning about The Little Red Hen we got to visit the school's chicken coop and the 5 chickens who live there!

We loved looking at the chickens, watching them eat and drink, and checking for eggs!

 Fancy Day
Two weeks ago we learned all about the letter F and celebrated the end of the week with Fancy Day. We wore our best accessories and looked so pretty and handsome in our fancy attire!

Hooray for Fancy Day!
